This property in Bolton, MA had a section completely taken over by brush and trees. Not exactly useful space. The homeowner wanted to change that - specifically, they needed a clear, graded area with a proper gravel base ready for a new shed.

Here's what that kind of job actually involves. First, everything had to go - brush, trees, roots, debris. Then the ground gets worked down and graded so you're left with a flat, stable surface. Skip that step and you end up with a shed that shifts and settles unevenly over time. Getting the grade right from the start matters a lot more than most people realize.

Once the area was cleared and graded, we laid a crushed stone pad as the base. That gravel layer does a few things - it keeps moisture from sitting directly under the shed, gives the structure a solid footing, and helps with drainage so water moves away instead of pooling. It's a simple detail that makes a real difference in how long a shed holds up.

This is the kind of site work that doesn't get a lot of attention, but it's foundational - literally. Whether you're putting up a shed, a garage, or clearing land for another structure, proper excavation and site prep is what everything else depends on. We handle all of it, from the first pass with equipment to the finished grade.
